“Exploring your inner artist” art course for all levels
Picasso said: “Every child is an artist. The challenge is to remain an artist once we grow up”.
This course is not about getting it right, but rather about finding your own artistic language through experimenting and liberating your innate
creativity.
While participating in art classes I noticed that many practitioners – beginners and experienced - can block themselves in two main ways: firstly,
through negative self-talk, and secondly, through sticking with what is safe and familiar. Hence the birth of this course.
The various exercises, performed in a supportive environment, invite less experienced artists to explore their untapped creativity and more
experienced artists to experiment with new ways of creating. All the exercises are designed to help you bypass your critical mind with the result
being greater confidence in your ability to authentically express yourself.
The sessions cover a range of topics such as landscape, portraiture, collage, and more. Each session includes Powerpoint slides that introduce a
number of artists who employ a similar approach to the topic of the session, as well as some of my own works where I have employed these
techniques. This is followed by demonstrations and then students are guided through the exercises. While the focus is always on process rather
than product, the results are often exciting.
Reviews
I’ve loved the adventure of Susie’s painting class this term! We have learnt how to loosen up in our painting, so that our work is more expressive
and engaging. Susie has generously & methodically shared her process techniques which I hope to continue using in the future. Thank you!

I was so impressed with this course - Susie’s attention to detail is second to none. The exercises she designed for us were most instructive. All of
them were thoroughly researched and prepared. I learnt lots from Susie ! (and I’ve done many courses in my art life.) I would recommend this
course to anyone - beginner or advanced. Jo
